Proposal for high school in Bairnsdale, East Gippsland Shire Council, VIC
Project Highlight: The East Gippsland Shire Council faces a significant educational gap due to the absence of a dedicated regional high school. Without such an institution, students in the area lack access to high-quality facilities and resources necessary for their academic growth. The high school proposed by Meso Space is constructed using dark grey and red metal panels. These materials create a striking contrast and add visual interest to the building. Large glass windows are incorporated into the design, allowing natural light to flood the interior and creating intriguing shadow patterns on the building’s surface. The facade features a combination of dark grey metal and glass panels, contributing to a modern and sleek appearance. The sharp edges of the building emphasize a contemporary architectural style, while geometric patterns on the facade add an artistic touch and create a dynamic visual effect.
The juxtaposition of the facade against the lush greenery surrounding it enhances the overall aesthetic. Situated in an eucalyptus forest, the high school enjoys a natural and serene backdrop. Red metal accents complement the forest environment, infusing warmth into the design. The terraced landscape, complete with a grass field on the side, ensures harmony with the surroundings. Sustainability takes centre stage in the architecture, with features such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems. The sleek concrete floor leading to the entrance signifies a commitment to modern design, and the two wide doors open into high-tech digital education spaces, reflecting a minimalist approach. The design aims to combines aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability, creating an inspiring learning environment for students.
