Sunflower Grove Apartments: Golden Grove, South Australia
Project Highlight: Designed by mesosapce, Sunflower Grove Apartments draw inspiration from the joyful spirit of childhood. The vibrant yellow and green hues evoke sunflowers dancing in the breeze, while the white accents symbolize purity and innocence. The goal is to create a space where children thrive, play, and explore. The apartment complex stands proudly with three stories. On the ground floor, where the lobby and communal spaces are located, large windows open up to lush grassy areas—a paradise for kids that provide safety and passive surveillance. These windows serve as portals to adventure, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. The upper floor where the actual residents are located, features smaller balconies, roof gardens, perfect for parents to enjoy their morning coffee while watching their little ones play below. The façade boasts playful geometric shapes. Imagine sunflower petals forming balconies, circular windows resembling flower centres, and triangular cut-outs adding whimsy. The entrance archway features an oversized sunflower, its petals forming a welcoming canopy. Coloured glass panels adorn the windows, casting kaleidoscopic patterns inside.
As sunlight filters through, the interiors come alive with warm hues. Each apartment has a private terrace. Some face the communal garden, where garden beds sway in the breeze. Others overlook the nearby park, where children play. These terraces become outdoor living rooms—a place to read, sips lemonade, or stargazes. The ground floor apartments have direct access to the grassy areas. Children can step out and play tag, kick a soccer ball, or have picnics. The communal spaces include a sunflower-shaped playground, a mini amphitheatre for storytelling, and a sensory garden with fragrant herbs. Sunflower Grove Apartments stand as a testament to imagination, joy, and community. Families find solace here, surrounded by nature’s beauty and the promise of endless play.
